Funeral Announcement – Mrs Ethel Porter (Chalmers)

Mrs Porter, formerly of Aultnaskiach Avenue, died on 13 September 2025 at St Olaf Nursing Home in Nairn, aged 99 years.

A lady that was generous to all and lived a full life. Beloved wife of the late Don, the most loving sister to Olive, also much loved by George and Caroline and by her many friends and neighbours in Aultnaskiach.

Funeral service on Tuesday, 29th July, at 11am, in the funeral home of William T. Fraser and Son, Culduthel Road, Inverness; thereafter on Wednesday, 30th July, at 1pm, in Old Deer Cemetery, Mintlaw. A warm welcome to one or both services.

Passed away at Raigmore Hospital, on Sunday, 13th July, 2025, Harry Blair, Leys Park, Inverness, formerly of Aberdeen, aged 84 years. Consultant engineer, keen walker and curler. Beloved husband of Doris for over 60 years, much loved dad of Louise and Martin, dear father-in-law, grandfather, uncle and brother-in-law.

Peacefully in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness on 9th November 2024, Margaret Burton James (nee Rodgers/formerly Scott), aged 82 years, Leys Drive, Inverness (former proprietor,  Chalky’s Licensed Grocers). Beloved wife of the late Bob James and the late Pat Scott, much loved mum of David and his wife Fiona, adored granny of Cameron and Fin, also a dear sister, sister-in-law, auntie, god-mother and good friend to many.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Friday 22nd November 2024 at 2pm in Inverness Crematorium. All welcome to attend. No flowers please. Donations in memory of Margaret towards Spokes For Folks, Inverness may be given at the door.

Mr Jack Shepherd, Druim Avenue

Peacefully, in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, on 27th October, 2024, John Prentice Shepherd (Jack), aged 95 years, Druim Avenue, Inverness. Beloved husband of Shirley, much loved father of Andrew, David and Robert, also a dear grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and uncle.

Funeral Announcement – Rev Andrew Lyon

Andrew was a member of the congregation of Old High St Stephen’s for a number of years and provided pulpit supply on a number of occasions.   The following are details of the funeral arrangements

Andrew was a  Church of Scotland minister for 36 years, firstly at Harthill Parish Church then Fraserburgh West Church and Rathen East Parish Church. Andrew died peacefully at Raigmore Hospital on Saturday 12th October 2024, aged 82 years. 

The Funeral service will be held on Monday 28th October, at 11am in St. Stephen’s Church, Southside Road, Inverness, to which all friends are respectfully invited; thereafter cremation private. Car parking available on Mayfield Road.

Please uphold his wife Sheena and their family in prayer at this sad time.
