Iona          Iain Todd

For some years now we have been trying to organise a trip to Iona, as a group from the church, but it is not easy - primarily because the island enjoys such a worldwide appeal that the various island centres, suitable for groups, are booking for 2010!

However the good news is that in 2009 our church will be offered a place in the Abbey and the Macleod Centre, named after George Macleod, founder of the Iona Community, who have a permanent staff and offer a varied programme of courses throughout the year.

Details will follow in the autumn, but for those who cannot wait - or would like a taster weekend - the plan is to offer a weekend on Iona this September. The intention is that folk would book their own accommodation. There will be a planned programme which folk can dip in and out of as they wish and meet up at night for food, chat and then attend the evening worship in the Abbey.

For those interested we propose to leave Inverness early on Saturday 13th September, by cars, arriving on Iona in the early afternoon and departing on the Monday 15th which would get us home by mid evening.

If interested please contact Iain Todd Tel 791161 or check the Isle of Iona website for accommodation options. The earlier we book the better obviously and don't worry if you don't have transport - seats will be found!
